Sabastien (Obi) Onyemaobi – Vice President

"I would describe myself as a passionate individual who wants to give back to the community that showed me how to do so much. I do what I love, and I love what I do: and that is volunteering my time towards others whenever I can.

Sabastien Onyemaobi, better known by his middle name of Obi, serves as the Vice President of the Youth Action Group. Obi is a prolific volunteer contributing thousands of hours within his hometown community of the City of Mission where he has helped organize different cultural events, and has volunteered as an announcer, MC, anthem singer, and awards manager for a variety of different organizations. In 2019, he was offered the opportunity to work as a Constituency Assistant with his local Member of Parliament; through which he gained further knowledge of what he could do to help the community.

A youth-parliamentarian and leadership minded individual, Obi has attended conferences such as the British Columbia Youth Parliament, British Columbia Student Leadership Conference, Canadian Student Leadership Conference, and .

In 2020, Obi was awarded the Youth Champion of Diversity designation, for that years Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity Awards, in recognition of his continued contributions towards encouraging diversity and youth leadership/empowerment within the community.
